The last couple of days

How are you guys doing?

Is everyone else running around like a headless chicken trying to coordinate abstracts and research and some actual writing?

I've been less successful on the coordinating side of things but I'm getting there. I will only end up with 25000 words but that's more than I would have had otherwise.
And thanks to you guys I had a whole lot more fun writing them than I expected!

If you feel like it, I would love to hear how many words you ended up writing and what your highs and lows were this month.

I hope you got something out of the last few weeks and if, like me, you still have a long way to go I hope you have lots and lots of energy to continue with this :)

Now lets get going for a few more words!

  1. Here is what I have left of the challenge:

    - 9,500 words to write
    - 6 articles to read
    - 3 hours work in or for my lab

Over all I feel like this is not the worst possible outcome for this month. I managed far more work for the lab than I would have thought possible and it was not even that bad. I read about as many articles in the last couple of weeks than I read in the last couple of months before the challenge.

I did feel bad about not having finished all the challenge goals, but on the other side I was not sure what to write about anyway. And I did write more than 4,000 words! Without the challenge it would have been 0. So today, thinking about the gains of it all, I actually feel like it was a pretty good idea to try and go for it.

And now it is December. I am so ridiculously busy with my seminars, more than I would have thought. But it actually IS twice as much work to teach two courses in one semester compared to teaching just one. There is not a single day in the week (OK, Friday) without students coming into my office. Also, December is the month where you finish your stuff and not to start something new. Hence, I will finish what is left of the November challenge in December and think about a new challenge for the new year. My last year...(maybe, hopefully, probably, actually...)

Thanks again for the challenge, Katharina and Anna! Let me know about new projects.

  2. I finished writing my blog when I started writing 50 000 words of thesis :) Last post was on October 6th. You persisted a bit longer :)
